An underground stone cellar, in Oyón, Spain: that's where more than 125 years of history started. Joaquín Martínez Bujanda built it to age the wines that he made from his vineyards. From day one, our family's passion has always started from the same place, the land and the vineyard itself.  This has been our path, our work, what interests us, what moves us: offering something personal, different, with a unique character. Breaking the molds to find new ways to always be ourselves.  Learn more about our heritage and Valdemar Family in

We have selected the beautiful Walla Walla Valley as the place to build our first winery outside Spain.  It is nearing completion and will be open on April 27, 2019!  Join our list for updates on the wine that we plan to make. Please fill out the form above.

We are very excited to announce that Marie-Eve Gilla joined Valdemar Estates as the Head Winemaker. We are sure her experience and personality will make a perfect fit in Valdemar Family. Here is a short background of Marie:

Born and raised in France, Marie earned her Double Masters in Enology and Viticulture at the University of Dijon and received practical training in the wineries and vineyards of Burgundy. Arriving in the United States in 1991, she worked at Argyle, Covey Run, Hogue and Gordon Brothers. Intending to stay for just a few months, she realized the incredible potential of the Northwest wine industry, eventually becoming a U.S. citizen in 2004.  She became Forgeron Cellars’ founding Winemaker and Managing Partner in 2001. She is married to Gilles Nicault, the highly accredited Director of Winemaking and Viticulture at Long Shadows Winery. In 2013 Marie-Eve was inducted into the Seattle Chapter of the prestigious Les Dames d’Escoffier International.

Marie-Eve is a nature lover, and enjoys exploring the vineyards to become intimate with her grapes, in order to shape wines that fully reflect the potential of each site and varietal.
